The number one reason you are not productive on your day is because you have not identified your frog.

I am not talking about the tiny animal. I am talking about the most difficult task you have for the day.

According to Brian Tracy, the author of ‘Eat Your Frog’ book, your frog is the most difficult task you have for a particular day.

Why do you think super productive people tackle the most difficult, important tasks on their list first?

Our usual habit is to postpone things, to push things to later on. The more we push tasks to later on, the more unproductive we are becoming. The more we delay things for the middle of the day or late afternoon, the more we pass the day through dread.

The longer a particular task is on your plate, the harder it will become to do the thing you are dreading.

That is why we should develop the habit of doing the most difficult task first thing in the morning.

Have you not come across videos that show you the benefit of accomplishing things early in the morning?

Have you not heard someone saying they accomplish a lot in a day when they get done with the difficult task first?

Don’t you know someone who is amazingly disciplined and by the time you are ready to start doing your work, this person has already finished most of the difficult tasks?

If you have a habit of dreading things, if all your tasks seem somewhat tortuous to you, you might be able to ease the pain by getting rid of the ugliest task (your frog) as quickly as you can.

Brian Tracy has written an entire book about it.

He says that if you want to be more productive in your day, tackle the difficult task first.

If there’s an important task you have planned for the next day, get on with it first thing in the morning.

If you have numerous tasks you have to do the next day, pick one that is the most difficult and tackle it first thing in the morning.

The benefit of doing a difficult task, a task we are dreading, a task we prefer not to do or a task we would like to push till the end of day might not be clearly visible at a first glance, but it is highly beneficial in the long run.

It requires tremendous amounts of energy to do a difficult task at the beginning of your day. But once you do it, you will succeed in winning over any kind of laziness and procrastination you have developed through the years.

It is strange, but pushing tasks and promising yourself you will do them later in the afternoon or sometime in the day is actually making you complacent in not doing them.

It requires considerably more effort and will to doing difficult tasks on your agenda first. But once you start doing it, it becomes an ingrained habit that will make you a productive person.

Your excuses cannot be your escape from your responsibilities and work that you ought to do.

Mark Twain famously said that if the first thing you do in the morning is eat a live frog, you can go through the rest of the day knowing the worst is behind you. Your frog is your worst task, and you should do it first thing in the morning.

Mornings are the most productive time of the day. For example: I like to do my writing in the morning, when there are no distractions, before I do anything else.

Why do you think successful people select their frog and eat it first thing in the morning?

· Because they want to control their day, not vice-versa.

· Because they want to defeat procrastination every time.

· Because they want to clear their mind by getting the difficult task done.

· Because they know that they are responsible for their own actions.

· Because they know that thinking on that difficult task yet to be done steals their thoughts and energy throughout the day.

· Because they know that the morning is the best time of the day to accomplish great things.

· Because they know that delaying the difficult task to later on will be a distraction throughout the day.

Do you want your day to be inspirational?
