Every Big Win In Life Lies At The Feet Of A Thousand Smaller Wins That Came Before It

Success Tips

There are a million small moments where we will negotiate with ourselves. We say win or lose.

In the words of Lawrence D. Bell,

“Show me a man who cannot bother to do little things, and I will show you a man who cannot be trusted to do big things.”

You, my friend, are winning in this built-in uncertainty called life. “Work hard” seems too simple, too vague for you. You’ve found that winning exists on a much smaller scale.

Working a bit longer than you’d felt like. Proofing the email one more time. Staying late and working on the project. Waking up early and writing — even when you felt like staying in bed. Restraining yourself from saying something you’d regret, from creating another ghost to haunt you.

You are the first to plunge into action after the huge disaster at work last weekend. You are the first to make a positive statement after everyone around you is having a doom-and-gloom attitude.

You, my friend, are winning the flavor of your life spectacularly.

You are who you are because of the small wins.

Shanti said,

“At the end of the day, your feet should be dirty, your hair messy and your eyes sparkling.”

Success Tips!

You win — because you choose to see the shades of gray that color every situation.

You have lived. You are still living. And so far, life has taught you that it is like a wild animal — fierce and free and beautiful, but ultimately, unpredictable, untamable, and unruly.

And you’ve learned that this uncertainty gives a unique flavor that, after being acquired, tastes delicious.

When you fail to get what you want, you feel frustrated — and very angry that you’ve not succeeded at “your thing”.

You are devastated that life is taking away your boat — away from you — by first throwing you out of the boat.

Your life has become a certain wreck.

Just when you and I would think that your boat is bound to be blown away to pieces, something happens.

You happen.

You get up to fight for what you hold dear. You swim towards the boat that has run away from you — as if your life depends on it.

Your spirits go up.

You find serenity in the unpredictability of the storm.

In the due course of your failure at something, you start accepting it as being part of life and that it is a sign that you are indeed really trying.

During the heat of the battle with life, as arrows pour down, you choose to slow down and be patient.

It’s a battle. Every day is a battle to do more, to remain a learner, and to follow through on learning how to do better.

Just when you think you are headed for a bitter end, you realize that you’ve got reinforcements from your inside. That what you seek is already inside you.

Wait a minute. Why am I losing hope? Hope is in me. It is mine. Are we not on the same boat? I know, when the dust settles, hope will seek me, So, let me not waste another moment in despair — when I could walk alongside hope right this minute. I will conquer.

When you are concerned about the circumstances and the challenges you are facing, you choose to focus on what you can do about them.

Because, you know that the only thing that any of us can really change — is our own mindset.

When you are plotting your story, you choose to find something to hold on to and fight till the end.

You take the hits from life. And you stitch the wound. Through the broken pieces, life shines through. You win by besting yourself — every single day.

You evolve. With each flaw. With each mistake. Each failure. Each setback.

Each small win.

Every big win in your life lies at the feet of a thousand smaller wins that came before it.

There is always background music that plays along. The harmony.

The harmony you made of your life.
