The stars are bright.

It’s like the world knows I’ve decided,

I’ve danced around for far too long,

I can feel my soul,

Haunting me every time,

Lurking behind me a few steps back.

A ghost I cannot shake.

Took someone to tell me,

I was a fool not to take a risk.

Life is what we make it,

Never let it walk by.

_ Keep Walking

It is not an accident. We can find this deep passion in every line of work, adventure or journey. But every person does not have that deep desire in all the work that he does. The desire varies according to the level of love the person has for a particular work. When a person finds and works on his dream job it is not only the person that is fortunate and the happiest person on earth but the work itself (whatever it may be) is the lucky one.

Because everything that is available and more will be spent on the successful accomplishment of the work. Let us remember some of the works done with deep passion in history. Works of art, legendary music’s, technological innovations and advancements, research materials etc.

These are only few examples. You are able to read this post from wherever you are because a person or group of people created this thing called the internet. So anything worth accomplished did not just happen with a whim or a snap of a finger. It has been well thought of, planned and lots of work. Unimaginable amount of time, effort and sweat were all put into the work.

We look at a person doing his job well and with such passion, we might ask ourselves:

“Where does all this love come from just for a particular work?”

“From where does this particular talent come from?”

“Why all these little sacrifices?”

The person might probably answer:

“I have a lot more love to give”

“I have a lot of improvement to make on my work”

“I have a lot more to do before my work is finished”

The work, if it can speak for itself, might have answered:

“I am the lucky one because someone who really likes and needs me has found me.”

“No one can do a better job than this person because I am being pursued by a great passion”

“It is interesting to see the journey unfold because it is not only the end that matters but seeing the journey as it shapes and reshapes this person beautifully that is pursuing me.

“Pleasure in the job puts perfection in the work.” Aristotle

So, do you love something more than anything? Does your love for this thing balance out everything else? Do you think about it always or often enough? If so, go ahead and start pursuing it. If you are already doing that, great for you. If not, what is stopping you?

Everything starts with us. Take the first step in that direction today. Now.

Personal Story

Since I can remember, I have a habit of putting down my thoughts and feelings on paper. It is a relaxing process for me, something I like – no love much.

It has become an ingrained habit that I don’t exactly know how often I do it. I love this habit of mine. My native language is Amharic, the official national language of Ethiopia.

I am an Ethiopian so English is my second language. Before I joined universities I remember writing short stories in Amharic language. After I graduated, I write in both languages depending on the mood that I am on a particular day. I used to write motivational stories in Amharic for a particular newspaper. I did not continue on that though my writings at home continued.

Today I have taken my first step in sharing my writings with the world with this first post on my blog.

“What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.” C.S.Lewis

Once you have started on your new journey, keep doing all the work necessary and more. Whatever obstacles that may rise and will rise, see them as a stepping stone and they are there for you to make you strong and to remind you why you started this journey in the first place.
