Here are 12 Life Skills(That I learned which are not worth my life):

Over thinking.

Thinking “Should I do this?” over and over again creates a repetitive cycle. Where you over think but don’t do a single thing about what you are thinking.

You think you are doing something while you are over thinking. But, you are standing on the same spot forever.

Worrying.

Do I look beautiful today? Will I have my job a year from now? What will my colleagues think of my report? Will he love me when I grow old? Will the rain destroy my dress?

These things are just not worth worrying about.

Related: Worry is an unproductive emotion.

Holding grudges.

It is like walking through a desert. But you are carrying poison instead of water. These toxins are dragging you down. They tether you to be and reflect darkness.

Related: Do not carry things that weigh you down.

Trying to control another person or expecting to change them.

The only person you can change is yourself. You cannot change others.

Trying to save or fix another.

You can love them. You can support them. You can be there for them. You can give financial or moral support to them.

But, you can never save someone else or fix someone. That job is theirs only.

Thinking that anything outside of you can fix or save you.

A person who loves you cannot save you. You are the only one who can save yourself.

Someone can motivate you to change. You can learn from someone. A book can inspire you. You can be envious of someone’s life. But, you are the only one who can save you.

Related: You are the most powerful person in your life.

Regarding yourself as a victim.

As long as you think the world is out there to get you, you make yourself a victim. A being who has no control over your external circumstances.

You do have control. Just stop feeling sorry for yourself and start doing something about your life.

Comparing yourself to others.

Before I stopped comparing myself to other writers, I wasted a lot of precious time. Comparing my work with theirs.

I realized that I was better off comparing myself with myself. Doing work that is better than the work I did the day before.

Compromising your boundaries to please someone.

You cannot please everyone. Why should you? Compromising your boundaries to please someone is not worth it.

This compromise takes something valuable from you.

You need to be brave enough to say: this is who I am. This is what I like. This is what I can do for you. But, you cannot push against who I am. You can’t get me to compromise my boundaries.

Looking at your cell phone when people right in front of you need your attention.

Be actively present, my friend. You can’t tell me you are communicating with someone when all your attention is on your device.

Breaking any promise you make to yourself.

Nothing is worth more than teaching yourself you can trust you.

Justifying yourself.

Look at your excuses. “He made me angry.” “I have a right to insult this person.” “I am too young to start.” “I am too old to start.”

Excuses. Justifications.
