Leadership

Inspirational LESSON about leadership!

“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world.  Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.” Margaret Mead

Tell me:

Why do you think most leaders fail in earning the title – to its form?

Because they do what is best for them – NOT for the TEAM!

Assume you have a team —- working with you and you are their leader.

  1. You come up with an idea for a new project.
  2. You tell your idea to your team.
  3. You expect them to put your idea into action.

You are wrong in your approach!

What is the point of having a team if you choose to have and follow your idea only?

I’ve learned over and over again that following your own ideas by disregarding others is a mistake.

This advice will save you – your team and hopefully your leadership status.

Before you give orders, stop and think for a moment.

Who do you have for a team?

What are their strengths and weaknesses?

What is their individual talent?

What is their experience?

Before you tell your ideas, before you do anything:

You need to KNOW YOUR TEAM.

You cannot afford not to know them.

Without your team, you will die as a leader!

Here are my favorite inspirational learnings about leadership:

. Always choose to stand by your team.

Just remember that the people in your team form your entire leadership. They need you. You need them.

  • Stop trying to control them.

You cannot control people. You do not have a say in what they should say or do and how they should behave, etc.

  • Take the time to learn from them.

Listen to them. Talk to them. Ask them questions. Engage.

  • Focus on what is important – Relationships.

This is the most important thing. Don’t ignore individuals in your team. Do not dismiss someone’s idea. Everyone is different. Embrace that reality. Everyone can contribute in a different way to a common goal.

  • Reach out.

This is a difficult concept to grasp. Because as a leader we are supposed to know everything. But, inclusiveness starts with every one of your team members. Remember to reach out to them and shower them with your care and love.
