It’s up to you to do the actual work.
Two days ago, I was attending a seminar. On ‘Building Good Habits.’ The speaker was teaching us how to create daily habits. That are beneficial to us and how to maintain those habits.
A woman was sitting next to me. When someone from the audience asked a question – this woman confided in me.
She is a chef. And she has been thinking of opening her restaurant for quite some time now. But, she has not yet opened her business.
Me: “Is that why you are here at the seminar? To get the boost you need to start your business?”
Her: “Yes. I thought something could inspire me – to take the plunge and do it.”
I told her what I believed. That at the end of the day, it is up to her and nobody else to do the actual work.
Not me telling her this advice. Not the speaker who gave us training on having the necessity of daily habits. Not her boss. Not her spouse. Not the book she reads to give her inspiration. Not an advice from another person who owns a similar business. Her.
Inspiration can only take us so far.
Inspiration comes from your actions
The logic of “looking for inspiration” has justified a lot of things. That remain undone or things that remain unfinished.
I’ve always had an on-again and off-again relationship with my writing. I have always written since childhood. But, I never took it seriously. I never made myself into a writer.
Until last year. When I decided to write professionally, every single day. On many platforms – like Medium and Quora.
Thus, my blog was born.
In ‘Treating My Writing Like My Own’

I’ve written that it is the actual work of writing every day – whether I feel like it or not – that makes me a writer.
Because I don’t always feel like writing. Sometimes, I want to sleep until 9 am for days. But, I force myself to rise early in the morning before I go to work. And open my laptop and write.
I choose to do this, every day.
Because inspiration is not the secret to success.
It is the actual work that you choose to do every day. For your work. For your relationships. For yourself. For achieving your goal. For mastering your skill. For improving your attitude. For overcoming struggles.
For anything. That makes you successful.
To your inspirations,
Banchi
