It’s not about trying to win come hell or high water.
Some people are experts in delivering the perfect knock-out verbal punches. Maybe you’ve noticed. They have the just-right poison of cocktail of words. They drop these bombs to you and you stand there, powerless and hurt.
I was in a company meeting the other day. Many important people were sitting around the table. Two people from the group started fighting verbally. One of them was saying something I completely disagree with. I wanted to interrupt the verbal fight. I wanted to say something ugly because I wanted people to think highly of me and witness me in all my mastery, glory and prowess.
But If I do that, my ego would be talking.
Where ego is trying to live through your words, you don’t ever say something insightful, useful or valuable.
