Have you ever heard of this story being asked at job interviews?
In a stranded place somewhere, an old woman, a young lady and a man are waiting for a transport that will take them to the next city.
The road they are at leads to a big city.
You are driving your own car at night going in the same direction to the big city for an important business meeting.
On your way, you see these people sitting by a bench waiting for a transport.
And you stop your car.
The old woman reminds you of your grandmother. The young lady reminds you of the woman of your dreams. You want to date this woman. The guy is actually your childhood friend. He has helped you a lot in your teenager years.
You want to help all of them.
But you are in a hurry, because the next morning you have an urgent business meeting.
You want to take them with you since you are driving alone, but your car can only add one person.
Now, who would you take with you?
Just to be clear here, you can only take one person (either the old lady, or the friend that you have been dying to meet or the young lady you want to date).
When you take one person, you will leave the other two.
Now, that is the story your interviewer asks you when you are being interviewed for a particular job.
Put yourself in the driver’s seat and think on the question.
If you are a man reading this, who would you choose to take with you – the old lady or the young woman or that long-lost friend?
If you are a woman reading this post, who would you choose to take with you – the old lady or the young man you want to date or that long-lost friend? (For women you have to modify the story by making one of the person a young man from the three people)
Write for me your answer to this question on the comment section and why you think such kinds of questions are asked at job interviews.
I will come back with the interpretation of the story tomorrow.
