stay true to yourself. - Super Tips to Improve your INTELLIGENCE!

Written by Banchi:

Yesterday somebody in the middle of a meeting had an emotional breakdown ……

There is no point to this meeting, I am out of here! I can’t just sit here and spend my time …..

He was mad.

I don’t know what happens in different meetings, but in my work we gather around and discuss a different ways on how to improve trainings that we give to clients.

Because we give different kinds of trainings, there are always topics to be added, improved and ways to develop our package.

So, it was kind of a shock when someone yelled in the middle of our usual discussion that there is no point to the whole thing and to be told we are wasting our time.

Just to be clear, the person yelling was a guest lecturer who came to our company just for few weeks.

I was the one who was talking when he interrupted the whole thing.

So, I just sit there like a punching bag while he got everything out.

Should I stop his ventings?” I thought. Believe me, I wanted to, but it would be disrespectful.

Should I tactfully give a signal to the mediator to stop him somehow?”

That would be like being a child …. He may think we are not professionals.

Patience!

I sat without doing anything. May be he was having a bad day.

After a couple of minutes, he started to calm down. He stopped talking.

Pause the story ……

Here is the problem: Someone is provoking you consciously or unconsciously to change your personality into theirs.

May be that person is doing it deliberately or not.

May be something has happened to that person and you are their venting outlet.

Now, handling such kinds of difficult situations require you to be extremely intelligent.

Is it easy to come out of such situations with a winner every time? No!

Difficult? Yes.

It is incredibly easy to follow the easy way like in this case stopping the man from disrupting the meeting we are having.

If we didn’t care so much we would have done that.

Resume the story ……

After the person who was mad at us for having meetings finished his venting, I explained why we are having such meetings.

My colleagues added their points.

Surprisingly, he sat and listened to us.

At the end of the meeting, he came to our offices and guess what he did.

He apologized.

“I have heard that you guys are doing great work at trainings. I am having a personal problem. What I was ranting about has nothing to do with you.”

This is life.

We will be bombarded with so many unwelcome and unexpected things from different directions.

No one is supposed to be perfect all the time.

Never, ever let things get out of control because of your pride or for any other reason.

Let yourself be a person who can see a way out because you were able to detach yourself from the situation.

Identify who you are and what your principles are.

Do something every day that inches you closer to who you are and that feeds your principles.

There is no limit to how far you can protect your principles.

You just have to work hard at it. (Had I become angrier than the guest lecturer because of his opinion, I would not have liked myself)

Staying true to yourself is deep. It is powerful. It is extraordinary.
