We give our energy constantly, mindlessly, and without a great deal of care.
Do you know that your time and energy are sacred and yet you give it to others without a care of how they are going to destroy it?
When your friend is talking about a fight you had 5 years ago and you listen, you are wasting your mind mindlessly.
When you buy something you don’t need, something you think your friends will like, you are letting others control your decision.
When you spend Saturday night with friends you no longer like and tolerate, you are letting others be on your driver’s seat.
When the company that you work for underpays you and you stay in the job for years, you are letting them rob you of your value.
When your significant other reenacts with you in a conflict that happened ages ago and you respond with more verbal wars, you are letting another person – even if that person is the one you love –control your actions.
When you spend your paycheck on something that you don’t need to impress your boss or that colleague who you see as a mortal enemy, you are letting them rob you of your right to be and be just you.
When you insist on being “nice” – when you want to be assertive and get your point across –because that is what everybody expects from you, you are letting others decide for you.
You are literally letting people rob you of your life.
“No person would give up even an inch of their estate, and the slightest dispute with a neighbor can mean hell to pay, yet we easily let others encroach on our lives – worse, we often pave the way for those who will take it over. No person hands out their money to passers-by, but to how many do each of us hand out our lives! We’re tight-fisted with property and money, yet think too little of wasting time, the one thing about which we should all be the toughest misers.” – Seneca
Your energy is limited.
You only have so much to give each day. You only have so much willpower to extend. So, you have to choose wisely.
If you let yourself be consumed by little unimportant details, you’ll run out of energy for the big things – the important things – in life.
To your Inspirations,
Banchi
