You have this great idea that you want to implement immediately.
You share your idea with everyone. They tell you it is a great idea. They convey to you that they will even help you implement your ideas.
You think on your idea and how to implement it for the next few months.
Now that you have really thought about it, you are finding the courage to pursue this idea of yours.
You are excited. You can’t wait to start. You can’t even sleep at night.
————-
The day that you have planned on starting your new project, you rise early in the morning. You are ready to work!
While you are preparing to dress, someone from your family calls your name and asks you:
“Hey, can you do me a favor before you go to your office?”
“Yes, sure!” You say.
“Please get me some cereal from the supermarket. We don’t have any left at home.”
You run to the supermarket and bring home the cereal —-. You are now ready to start your day of work.
The phone rings, “Hey, I need your help!” Your best friend asks.
“Sure, anything for you, my friend!”
“Can I invite you for a coffee? I have something to tell you.”
“Sure, I’ll be there!” You say.
It is noon and you haven’t started your work ——
After your coffee with your friend, you return back to the office. Now, you are ready to start your work day.
As soon as you get to your office, your assistant grabs you, “Hey, you have many phone calls to return!”
“Okay, pass them through —–” You take care of your calls.
Now, the time for lunch has arrived.
“I will quickly eat my lunch and get started on my work!” You make a commitment.
You rush for lunch and come back to your office to an inbox full of emails.
“Oh! I have to take care of these emails first ——”
One hour later—-
Your assistant tells you that someone is waiting for you to meet you.
“But, I don’t have an appointment.” You say.
“He says that he is your friend from your university days.”
“Oh! Let him in then.”
Two hours later —–
DAY IS OVER!
——
What happened to your idea?
What happened to your project?
What happened to your commitment?
You are a kind person, but you have NO CHARACTER when it comes to leading your own life.
You have NOT prioritized what is important to you and what is NOT.
You are a people pleaser.
You cannot achieve what you want if you don’t prioritize, if you don’t control your time.
A person of strong character uses his time WISELY!
A person of strong character knows what he wants and he goes after it with complete tenacity!
