I’m not being comical. I am dead serious.

In the past, I’ve felt too many times in my life to count – to just let go – let go of being positive, let go of this hard road and move to the easier road, let go of trying to see the silver lining in difficult situations.

Just let go.

That is “negativity” speaking to me. If you think fighting this enemy is easy, think again.

If you think being positive is easy, reconsider.

I’ve felt like my feet had been knocked out from under me due to negativity calling out to me.

I’ve resisted every time. I still do.

It takes grit to be positive.

Grit to stand up after falling down. Grit to remain positive in a world where most things are becoming negative. Grit to forgive someone even though you are the one who got hurt. Grit to get up after a failure. Grit to try again with that new knowledge in tow.

“I firmly believe that it takes much more grit to be a positive person than a negative person.”

That is why doing a good thing is extremely hard. Not because of the action per se.

But because you’ve got to do this good thing again and again.

You focus on any “good thing” and you see the results in your life. If you don’t, the “good thing” won’t thrive.

I believe positivity is a really good and beautiful thing. But it should not be taken lightly.

Only courageous people dare to be positive and live their lives in a positive way.

Have I not convinced you yet how positivity needs hard work every single day?

Here’s a quote you should have:

“Love must be learned, and learned again and again; there is no end to it. Hate needs no instructor, but wants only to be provoked.” Katherine Anne Porter

All those negative emotions (hate, negativity, ill-thoughts, resentment, greed, refusing to forgive, pride, judging) are all in the same basket.

They are toxins. This is not a figure of speech. These feelings demand from your body a fight or flight reaction releasing stress hormones that affect your immune system and raise your blood pressure.

Let them go.

If you don’t, they will keep on taking every light from your world.

All those positive emotions (love, forgiveness, caring, understanding, empathizing, and happiness) demand from you – your attention and focus on them. Every day.

And guess what they will give you in return?

All the light in the world.

“Positivity is all about looking at reality and determining how to respond in a way that might help you grow.” Shannon Ashley

“The truth is that it takes an extraordinary amount of courage to foster a positive mindset in a largely negative world.” Shannon Ashley
