Happiness is from within

Yesterday I read an article on how we unknowingly sabotage our own happiness.

It is not often that I completely agree with an author’s idea but in this case, I do.

Here is part of the article:

People aren’t happy on a deeper level. So rather than confront the problem head-on and work to resolve it, they begin to self-sabotage. Rather than look for a new job, they begin to under perform. Rather than exercise, they eat more and nap away their sadness. Rather than study, they wander in their distractions. Self-sabotage is like an internal eject button. If we don’t take action to fix something, to stare down our problem, our inner self will take over. Rather than solve the problem, it will make it worse, it will turn one bad aid into many. Don’t let your internal self take over. When it pushes eject it doesn’t check for a parachute. —- Sean Kernan

Are you too afraid to feel happiness?

“May you live every day of your life.” Jonathan Swift

Ask yourself if any of those things Sean is talking about is true to you too.

It does not matter why you are doing it. If you are doing it, you need to reconsider.

If you are doing something, anything that you are not fully on board with, then ask yourself why.

Why are you doing this to yourself?

Who said you’ve to let everything drag out to the bitter end?

If you are not happy in your relationship, get out or do something about it. Don’t just cross your arms across your heart and expect the other person to beat you to the downfall of your relationship.

If you are not happy with your job, find something that you love. It is not okay and certainly not right that you are under performing- deliberately.

Want to be happy? Try appreciating what you have right now.

While you are focusing on what you don’t have, something that you want for the future, and some vague feeling that you will one day be overwhelmed with happiness, you forget to be happy in the present moment.

In the words of Jen Sincero,

“When we get so wrapped up in our heads, we miss out on what’s available to us right now at the moment.”

Powerful tips for happiness:

.Everything that you have right now was once something you did not have.

.Release your need to look for happiness somewhere else. You can’t be happy if you keep on looking for it outside of you.

.Choose to live and appreciate the present moment..

. Do something for others. Being useful is one of the best happiness hacks I know.

.Leave your past in the past. Don’t waste your most valuable present time reliving the past.

. Please remember the secret to happiness is doing work that matters and being an instrument of service.

.Life’s short. If you’re postponing happiness for “someday”, you are wasting away your precious life.

Albert Einstein said,

“Don’t wait for miracles, your whole life is a miracle.”
